Winter marks a time of deep unraveling, and in this hands-on, paper-making workshop we will look toward the wisdom of the more-than-human world to help us understand the role of decomposition and renewal at this time of year. Over the course of two sessions hosted at Redruth’s Ladder, participants will learn to make beautiful handmade paper by processing their own post-christmas paper waste, helping us to consider questions around natural processes and waste. We will use embodied learning methods to approach paper-making as an ecological process, paying attention to the persistence of raw materials and humans’ unique ability to usher in new energy forms.
This inaugural event launches a planned seasonal workshop series at Redruth’s Ladder, which aims to help connect participants and community members to the seasons through communal making and ritual.
Paper-Making: A Winter Ritual is hosted by artist-educators Tressa Thomas and Hannah Jordan and is supported by Cornwall’s FEAST.
